Advice from 1 Rustler owner to another: Don’t go for a higher pinion. Drop to a pretty small pinion and drop the spur. (Do like a mod 1 18t pinion with a mod 1 40t spur.) You will be much better results. Also, put in the decimal on your speed! You deserve it bro!

I've had the 33t pinion gear and 76t spur gear for 10 yrs those gears haven't changed

And yeah I never over gear my rustler VXL plus I've just recently bought my new Traxxas TQ transmitter and receiver along with my Traxxas link module app

I will buy the 18t pinion gear and mod 1 40t supr gear I'll do that

Actually I don't have the mamba monster brushless system I just have the velienon 3400kv brushless motor I'm not sure if I can use the 18t pinion gear and the mod 1 40t supr gear

You’ll be able to run the mod 1 gears, just make sure you get the right pinion for your shaft diameter. Also, instead of getting Traxxas telemetry get the SKYRC GNSS performance analyzer. It’s much more accurate and a little bit less expensive.

I’m about to put 17/54 32p gears on my Rustler with my 5400kv Hobbywing on 2s. Going to hopefully be breaking into 60mph territory.

I have just the original velienon 3400kv brushless motor and ESC for 10yrs but I don't think I would use those kind of gearing for the VXL brushless motor

Plus I think the problem is with people over gearing is it overheats the ESC and motor but I'd say it's about what kind of lipo battery you use and voltage I was thinking of buying a better lipo battery to reach 70mph without changing the spur gear and pinion gear
